- AUDITION NOTICE -

At The Last Great Hunt we are casting for our next show, BITE THE HAND, written by Chris Isaacs and directed by Matt Edgerton.

THE PROJECT

BITE THE HAND is a full-length play using the emancipation of domestic pets to explore how we control groups or people close to us through love. It’s a play about dependency, power, and what supposed hierarchies in society do to our relationships.

Rehearsal dates: 13 April – 18 May, 2020 (Maylands Town Hall & Subiaco Arts Centre)

Season dates: 19 May – 06 June, 2020 (Subiaco Arts Centre) 

Remuneration for these roles will meet MEAA Guidelines.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for performers to play the following characters. The character age range is 25-45. We encourage all performers to apply. This includes performers who identify as CALD, LGTBIQ+ and/or have a disability(ies). 

PERFORMER 1 (PLAYS WES and ZIGGY)

WES

  • Human

  • Male

  • Age range 25 – 45

  • An assertive employee of the company implementing trials which gives pet dogs an enhanced level on consciousness. Owner of Rex, a dog, who he treats very well, but not without necessary discipline.

ZIGGY

  • Dog

  • Male

  • Age range 25 – 45

  • A dog who has been institutionalised by the company implementing trials. Because of being a part of heavy disciplinary experiments he now requires constant affirmation that he is a ‘good dog’.

PERFORMER 2 (PLAYS SAM and HAHA)

SAM

  • Human

  • Gender Neutral (Can be Male, Female or Non-binary)

  • Age range 25 – 45

  • Partner to Dale and co-owner of Alice. Heavily concerned about Dale’s health, and wants to give Alice (their dog) an enhanced consciousness in an attempt to assist Dale’s mental well-being.

HAHA

  • Dog

  • Gender Neutral (Can be Male, Female or Non-binary)

  • Age range 25 – 45

  • Dog who has been through the clinical trials of the consciousness enhancing programs and now has a slightly accepting attitude of the wrongs done to them in the past, but thinks about how they can act in a way to better the future.


AUDITION DETAILS

Date: 21 - 22 October, 2019

Times: 9am-5pm (Each audition will take approximately 30 minutes. We regret that self-tapes will not be accepted.

Location: Rehearsal Room, Subiaco Arts Centre (located on Level 2)

Requirements: You will be required to familiarize yourself with short scenes from the script, which will be provided to you in advance. It is expected that you will have prepared for the scene, but you will not need to memorize the sections. You will be reading alongside another cast member.
